Holding
Folding
C ontrolling
Sunshine
Shining
Asleep
Feeling
Healing
Believing
Empty
Plenty
Release me
Seven days can last a lifetime
Locked inside your head
So the story goes
Needing
Bleeding
Revealing
Breathing
Bleating
Sheep
Watching
Talking
Waiting
Carefree
I can’t see
Believe me
Seven days can last a lifetime
Locked inside your head
So the story goes

The Storm (Part 2)
04:36

Lying in the summer sun
I’ve been dreaming since the day began
Holding back and holding on
Watching silently and calm
It’s more than we can see
Close my eyes and fly away
Save the thinking for another day
Feel the sunlight warm my face
Like a physical desire
It’s more than we can see
Hold my breath and carry on
I try to catch that day that’s gone
And I remember what it means
To be innocently and clear
It’s more than we can see
Struggle to believe
Time to go back home

Pleasure & Purpose
06:35

If we could photograph what might have been
An empty memory of what we’d see
Then we’d know
We could grow
And make it something real
But we just spend our time imagining
Until we’re blind to what is happening
We don’t see
What we need
Or even what we feel
Sometimes it seems like every second I forget a little more
Another compromise and suddenly my back’s against the wall
All the resentment and corrosion that you thought I should have known
I saw the lightning in your eyes, I had to make it on my own
Now you’re all out of trust and I’m all out of time
I try to remember all our grand designs
All the blessings and burdens
Broken and small
I just needed a warning, a little relief
So I wouldn’t have to just admit defeat
All the noise and confusion
Means nothing at all
If we ignore a part of what we find
Does It matter what we leave behind
We still trust
Way too much
Or maybe we’re just blind
Sometimes it seems like every second I forget a little more
Another compromise and suddenly my back’s against the wall
All the resentment and corrosion that you thought I should have known
I saw the lightning in your eyes, I had to make it on my own
I just needed forgiveness, a little restraint
I needed the time so I could just explain
All the pleasure and purpose tumbling down
Now there’s nothing but anger, covered in shame
And I had to finally accept the blame
All the colours and virtue just left on the ground

This Heart's Alive
06:31

My heart was a beacon I’d follow
I trust in whatever I feel
But I’m left feeling foolish and hollow
And I’m not really sure what is real
Do lessons always have to be painful?
Can we take what we need in the end?
Can we separate weakness from hateful?
Can we separate lover from friend?
If something is right do we know it
Can we understand why people lie?
Can we try to believe, after being deceived
And convince ourselves something is right?
And in the end, does anything matter?
Can we paint ourselves out of the frame?
Can we see through the truth and the damage it proves
Without anyone taking the blame?
Oh, this heart’s alive, heart’s alive
So hold on tight
How can we tell if it’s honest?
Can we tell when we’re just being used?
Is it normal to doubt, what we’re thinking about?
Is it normal to be so confused?
It was something I wanted forever
You were someone who made me believe
Now I’m empty inside and I can’t see the light
And I don’t know what anything means
Oh, this heart’s alive, heart’s alive
So hold on tight

I take a moment just to pass my time
I need to remember this is yours, not mine
Suddenly everything seems far away
Into the storm just like a castaway
Stay with me until the morning
Hold me close until the end of time
Seems like nothing lasts forever
You see the world the same as me
Memories carry me above the rain
Watching it fall against the window pane
I know exactly when I lost my mind
It’s not what you take, it’s what you leave behind
Stay with me until the morning
Hold me close until the end of time
Seems like nothing lasts forever
You see the world the same as me
And suddenly we’re all alone
We turn and face the great unknown
How can we tell if this is real?
You stood by the door and you turned out the sunlight
I wanted so much to believe it was true
But you’re never there when the night becomes morning time
And you’re never with me to help get me through
Stay with me until the morning
Hold me close until the end of time
Seems like nothing lasts forever
You see the world the same as me
It doesn’t matter if I stay too long
I know you’ll forgive me if I get things wrong
Sitting together in our hideaway
‘Never enough’ is never far away

Sometimes

Would you catch me if I fall apart?
Making you crazy with my foolish heart
Means so much that I really can’t say
Keeping me dreaming in my world away
I know the shadows that we see are mine
Leading me safely from the firing line
Spring turns to summer then watch it fall
Keeping me sheltered when I feel so small
Oh, sometimes
I know sometimes I can seem naive
When you’re with me I can still believe
I know you need a little time alone
Keeping me here inside the fallout zone
Oh, sometimes
Sometimes I wonder why you’re still around
I always felt warm inside your hand-me-downs
What does it matter what we never show?
Is it better to never know?
Will you catch me if I fall apart?
Making you crazy with my foolish heart
Means so much that I really can’t say
Keeping me dreaming in my world away
Oh, sometimes

Kites
07:18

I tried so hard to let you know
It’s all supposed to help us grow
And everything was right before my eyes
I wondered how I used to be
Did I forget my family?
When all I saw was right before my eyes
And all the things we could not say
That never mattered anyway
And all I saw was right before my eyes
And everything I needed to know
I heard it on my radio
I told myself it’s better not to try
So all of the people For all of the time
We can’t go on thinking it’s the end of the line
There’s gotta be something that we can do any time
We’re looking for something that we’ll never find
And we never notice we got left behind
A little bit faster it stays with us sometimes
This could be the end of the line
Blinded by the lights ahead
And all the things we left unsaid
I told myself it’s better not to try
Someday we’ll be kites for the last time
